Laura Stewart has degrees in Chemistry and Law from Dalhousie University as well as a Diploma in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Originally from Halifax, Ms.. Stewart received her call to the Ontario bar in 1995. She is an advocate in the areas of professional defence and administrative law, dividing her practice between civil litigation before all levels of the Ontario Courts and various regulatory and administrative tribunals, including Discipline Committees, Fitness to Practice Committees, the Consent and Capacity Board, the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board, credentialing committees, hospital boards and inquests. She has a particular interest in mental health law.
 
Ms. Stewart is actively involved in advocacy and legal education, having taught several courses for The Advocates' Society. She is a former seminar instructor for the Trial Advocacy Course at the University of Ottawa and has lectured at conferences and seminars on issues of substantive law and advocacy techniques.
