I am a partner at WeirFoulds LLP and practice in most areas of civil litigation, with an emphasis on complex business litigation and estates litigation. I am a member of the Ontario Bar and the Bar of St. Kitts and Nevis and have been a member of The Advocates' Society since my early days at the Bar. Throughout my career, I have participated in many programs designed to further the mission statement of the Society: the promotion of excellence in advocacy. I have created and presented numerous continuing legal education seminars on many areas dealing with the litigation process for various CLE providers, including The Advocates' Society, the Ontario Bar Association and the Judicial Education Institute for the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. I also participate on many community boards and initiatives. I am: President of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers (CABL), an organization of lawyers, judges and law students that addresses equity and access issues in the legal profession.
a board member of Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO), a specialty clinic that has the sole mandate of producing and delivering public legal education to communities in Ontario that are low-income or who otherwise face barriers to full participation in the justice system. a member of the Steering Committee of DiverseCity: The Toronto Leadership Project which is aimed at diversifying Toronto's leadership landscape. a member of the Routes to Freedom Endowment Senior Advisory Board which works to encourage endowment funds for a scholarship and a fellowship at the University of Ottawa to support studies in international law and social justice.
CABL's representative on the Equity Advisory Group, which assists the Equity and Aboriginal Issues Committee of The Law Society of Upper Canada in the development of policy options for the promotion of equity and diversity in the legal profession. |
