Linda M. Plumpton Torys LLP Tel: 416-865-8193 Fax: 416-865-0040 E-mail: lplumpton@torys.com Since 2004, Linda Plumpton has been the practice group leader of Torys' Litigation Department. Her practice focuses on business litigation with an emphasis on competition and antitrust law, corporate/commercial disputes, securities litigation and class action defence work. She also practices in the areas of public law, constitutional law and defamation. Linda has appeared as counsel in the Supreme Court of Canada, in all levels of court in Ontario and in the Federal Court, as well as before a variety of administrative tribunals and in arbitrations. In 2004, Linda was named by Lexpert as one of Canada's top 40 lawyers under 40. She was recognized by Lexpert in each of 2005, 2006 and 2007 as one of Canada's 25 litigation lawyers to watch. She has taught advocacy at the Osgoode Hall Intensive Advocacy Course and the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, and at programs run by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. Linda has been for several years an active participant in programs run by The Advocates' Society. Recent programs at which she has spoken include: Skirting the Issues: Women in Litigation, September 2005; the 2006 Spring Symposium: Evidence, Advocacy & Persuasion, May 2006; Cross-examination: Crucial Skills and Techniques, October 2007; and A Trial from A to Z, April 2008. Linda has lectured on class actions at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law and at Osgoode Hall Law School. She is a past member of the executive of the Constitutional and Civil Liberties section of the Ontario Bar Association. Linda is also a member of Torys' Risk Management Committee. |
