Eric is a partner in the firm Lax O’Sullivan Lisus Gottlieb LLP. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1994. Eric has a broad commercial litigation practice, including shareholder disputes, contractual disputes, fiduciary duties, and directors’ and officers’ liability. He has a significant class actions practice, and has extensive health law experience, representing health care institutions and professionals in a variety of matters.
Described by Chambers Global as … a “remarkable lawyer who is highly respected for his class actions, health law and commercial litigation practice”, Eric regularly appears in the Ontario courts and has represented parties in proceedings before the Supreme Court of Canada, the courts of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland, and a broad array of administrative tribunals across the country. Eric has also been repeatedly recognized by Lexpert as a leading practitioner in class actions and by Benchmark as a “litigation star” for class actions in Ontario and Canada.
Professional and Community Activities
Eric is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars on litigation, advocacy, class actions and health law. He has previously served as a member of the adjunct faculty of the law school at Western University in London, Ontario, where he taught class actions. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. He has also published articles on a variety of topics in Corporate Liability, Canadian Class Action Review, Advocates’ Quarterly, and Annual Review of Civil Procedure. Eric is active in the community as a director of Turning Point Youth Services Foundation and through his many years as a coach with the Toronto Leaside Girls Hockey Association.
