Profile:
Sylvain is a partner in the National Litigation Department in Osler's Montréal office. Sylvain Lussier is widely recognized as one of the most accomplished litigation lawyers in Quebec and in Canada. Sylvain has developed a leading reputation in a wide range of law, including commercial litigation and civil liability, but also extending to: Public and Administrative Law, where he represented the Attorney General of Canada at the Gomery Commission; Constitutional and Fundamental Rights and Freedoms Law; Native Law, and Environmental and Municipal Law. He has been involved in a number of class actions, including liability, pension and competition cases, and in many shareholder disputes. He has represented clients before various administrative tribunals, the Quebec Superior Court, the Quebec Court of Appeal, the courts of New Brunswick, the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Sylvain also headed a World Bank-sponsored mission to audit and recommend improvements to the legal system in Cameroon. Sylvain is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and is a past Chair of the Provincial Committee of this association. He is also a Past Chair of the Montréal Bar Committee on Civil Justice and of the CBA's Constitutional Law and Civil Liberties Section. He is Advocatus Emeritus since 2007 and is a special advocate under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA).
