Join us for an interactive session addressing the fundamentals of preparation for both in-person and virtual examinations for discovery. Speakers Colin Piercey and Michelle Kelly will provide timely insight on how to conduct effective and successful discoveries.
The program will conclude with a demonstration that brings theory into practice by showcasing what can happen when you follow the rules...or not.
You will learn:
- Preparing for discovery including when and how to effectively use a chronology of key events:
- What to take into account when choosing & conducting a virtual discovery:
- Tech pros and cons – benefits of screen-sharing for documents, vs. glitches, etc.
- How to properly conduct a discovery including obtaining key admissions for use at trial, including:
- Sequence of questions
- Controlling the witness
- Use of pleadings
- Ensuring you get the clear answers you need for impeachment at trial
- Brief demonstration of proper discovery techniques
