Join us during A2J Week 2021 for this special presentation on the final report of the Modern Advocacy Task Force. This program is free of charge for members and non-members of The Advocates' Society.

In June 2021, The Advocates’ Society released the report of its Modern Advocacy Task Force entitled The Right to be Heard: The Future of Advocacy in Canada. This session will highlight the recommendations of the Task Force to ensure the most effective and efficient access to justice as we start to emerge from the global pandemic.

Speakers will discuss the complementary roles and importance of in-person and remote oral advocacy in the context of a practical framework intended to guide both advocates and the judiciary in determining the most appropriate mode of hearing a matter. The framework is based on four key principles: (1) the open court principle, (2) the imperative of access to justice, (3) the integrity of the court process, and (4) the principle of proportionality.
