Over the last several years, we have heard voices of protest against inequality and a corresponding call to action. Now in its fifth year, our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion for Litigators program returns to discuss the practical implications of changes to systems and processes in the legal industry. In a multidimensional world where culture, race, ability, religion, politics and gender can transcend the law, what skills do you need to ensure that you are fulfilling your duties as a responsible advocate?
This three-hour interactive online program will feature a series of practical panel discussions, each focusing on a different aspect of EDI and advocacy, as well as structured discussion groups led by experienced counsel from across Canada that delve deeper into these nuanced and complex topics.
Some of the questions we will explore:
- How has the profession responded to the call for change and what effects does it have on our day-to-day practice?
- What are some effective systems and processes that different courts and jurisdictions have implemented to advance EDI and access to justice?
- How do you balance EDI with other competing issues when framing your case?
- What is the relationship between technology and EDI?
Registration includes electronic materials, which will be provided prior to the program. Registration also includes access to the live webcast recording for 30 days from the date of the program.
