TAS Urges LSO Benchers to Defer Decisions on Statement of Principles

The Advocates’ Society has written to the Benchers of the Law Society of Ontario and asked that they defer voting on the motions regarding the LSO’s statement of principles.  The motions, which are currently scheduled to be debated and decided on Thursday, June 27, would involve significant changes to the requirement for lawyers to abide by a statement of principles acknowledging their obligation to promote equality, diversity and inclusion.  TAS believes that broader consultation with stakeholders should take place before any changes are made to this requirement. Read TAS's letter to the LSO Treasurer here.
