Contract disputes require a unique skill set to litigate. When application or enforcement issues arise, clients expect pragmatic advice, accurate contract interpretation, and persuasive advocacy—often on an urgent basis. Join us for practical tips as litigators and judges share the most effective and up-to-date strategies for handling contract disputes in the wake of new SCC case law and continuing virtual advocacy. Walk away with a practical toolkit that you can apply to your next contract dispute.
You Will:
- Discover how to frame your claim and effectively position your evidence
- Learn how to draft effective pleadings in contract disputes
- Understand what you need to know to gather relevant evidence for your claim
- See first-hand how the “best of the best” present and test evidence in a live demonstration with commentary
- Find out which advocacy techniques judges want to see more of in their courtrooms
Workshop Details | Wednesday, June 23, 2021, 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (ET)
Participants of the Litigating Contract Disputes plenary session are also eligible to join us for our hands-on skills workshop, which will be held fully remotely. The workshop is your chance to practice examining and cross-examining witnesses in a contract dispute, and to refine these key advocacy skills in a supportive environment. You will get practical, individualized feedback from our trained instructors. You will also learn from your peers as you work through the interactive exercises in small groups. Please note that the workshop requires advance preparation based on a mock case file, which will be provided to you in advance of the workshop.
Registration includes electronic materials, which will be provided prior to the program. Registration also includes access to the live webcast recording for 30 days from the date the link is sent to you.
*Due to current concerns with COVID-19, we will be offering this program fully remotely via webcast only.
